Matric Tuition for Class 9 and 10: Home and Online Tutors

Matric is the first public board exam most students in Pakistan sit, and the Class 9 and Class 10 results follow them into college admissions. That is why so many parents start looking for matric tuition as soon as a child enters Class 9. GetTutor.pk helps families find a home tutor or an online tutor for Class 9 and Class 10, one student at a time, following your own board and textbook.

1 free trial class per subject, then paid classes.

What matric tuition should actually do

Good matric tuition is not a second school day. The student already sits through lectures at school. A tutor is useful when they do the things a busy classroom cannot:

  • Find the exact gap. A student who “can’t do Maths” usually has three or four specific weak points, such as factorisation, word problems or trigonometric ratios. A tutor’s first job is to find them.
  • Explain it a different way. If the school explanation did not work, repeating it slowly will not either. A good tutor uses a new example, a diagram or a shorter route.
  • Turn understanding into marks. Board papers reward clear steps, correct definitions, labelled diagrams and complete answers. Students need practice writing answers the way examiners expect.
  • Keep a steady pace. Chapters covered on time, weekly revision, and no last-month panic.

Class 9 vs Class 10: different priorities

Class 9

Class 9 is where many students first face subject-specific Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Computer Science, along with a big step up in Maths. The priority here is concepts. A home tutor for Class 9 should make sure the basics of each chapter are clear, because Class 10 builds on them and there is less time to go back.

Class 10

Class 10 adds new chapters and the pressure of the final board papers. Many schools finish the syllabus early and move to revision and send-up tests. A Class 10 tutor should balance finishing any weak chapters with timed practice, past-paper style questions and revision of definitions, derivations, numericals and diagrams.

If your child is in Class 10 but still weak in Class 9 topics, tell the tutor. Fixing the foundation first often saves time overall.

Science group and general group subjects

Group Subjects students most often want help with
Science (Biology) Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English
Science (Computer Science) Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, English
General / Arts General Maths, General Science, English, Urdu, Islamiat, Pakistan Studies

Compulsory subjects such as English, Urdu, Islamiat and Pakistan Studies are easy to ignore, but they add to the overall percentage. Many students take tuition in one science subject and one compulsory subject together.

Subject guides: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

Your board, your textbook

Pakistan has the Federal Board (FBISE) and a separate BISE board for each region, such as BISE Lahore, BISE Rawalpindi, BISE Bahawalpur, BISE Sargodha, BISE Karachi and BISE Hyderabad. Syllabus, textbooks and paper patterns are not identical across boards. When you enquire, tell us the board and the textbook your child’s school uses, and we will look for a tutor who has taught it.

Students living outside Pakistan who follow the Federal Board can see our page on FBISE online tuition for overseas students.

A simple matric study plan with a tutor

  1. First weeks: the tutor checks the student’s level in each subject and lists the weak chapters.
  2. During the session: cover each new school chapter soon after it is taught, with practice questions.
  3. Every few weeks: a short chapter test at home, then correct the mistakes together.
  4. Before send-ups: revise the whole syllabus once, focusing on high-weight chapters and repeated question types.
  5. Before the board papers: timed full-paper practice and quick revision of definitions, formulas and diagrams.

Keep tuition time fixed, keep a separate notebook for corrections, and ask the tutor for a short update after every few classes.

Signs your child may need a matric tutor

  • Marks in school tests are dropping in one or two subjects.
  • The student copies homework answers without understanding them.
  • Numericals in Physics or Chemistry are left blank.
  • The student studies for hours but cannot explain what they read.
  • Send-up or board exams are close and whole chapters are untouched.

Earlier is easier. Starting in Class 9 is usually far less stressful than rescuing Class 10 in the last months.

Frequently asked questions

1. Can I get a home tutor for Class 9 only? Yes. You can ask for a tutor for Class 9, Class 10 or both, in one subject or several.

2. Do you offer online matric tuition? Yes. Students can take live 1-on-1 online classes with a Pakistani tutor from home, in Pakistan or abroad.

3. Which boards can the tutor teach? Tell us your board and textbook when you enquire, and we will look for a tutor who has taught that syllabus.

4. Can one tutor teach all matric subjects? Some tutors teach two or three related subjects, such as Physics and Maths. For science subjects, a separate tutor per subject is often better. We will suggest what makes sense for your child.

5. When should matric tuition start? Ideally at the start of Class 9, so weak points are fixed before Class 10. Students can still start at any time.

6. Is the first class free? Yes. Our offer is 1 free trial class per subject, then paid classes.

7. Can I ask for a female tutor? Yes. You can ask for a female or male tutor, and we try to match it based on availability. See female home tutor.

8. Can I change the tutor later? Yes. If the tutor is not the right fit, tell us and we can look for another tutor.
